We recorded this when I was 16. My best friend, Tommy DeFranco sings harmony with me. I wrote the words and music. 1959. The background singers are a group called the "Wheels".

When I saw this recording I was very surprised. Here’s why, in the late 50”s my moms best friend Barbara recorded this along with teardrops on the flip side, not long after this she was going to be signed with capital Records, but here’s the thing without telling anyone she ran away, she eloped. Back in those days I guess you didn’t do two things at once. Al Pera aka (Mease) nickname wrote the chords and the melody. Charlie Pinto wrote the lyrics.. Mease is from South Philadelphia, where I also am from we all grew up together, having lots of musical parties along with Barbara and her husband Jimmy, who also was an amazing singer. At a super young age, my grandparents would play Barbara‘s record, over and over again. I grew to love it. I would sing it at those parties that we had. Along with this there were many other song the amazing songwriters wrote but this ballad was the only one that actually went into the recording studio with an Orchestra. When I saw this, Online i was blown away even Barbara brother who is living in Florida never knew about it and I sent the link to him . Mease & Charlie had a great song and although Barbara and Jimmy wound up getting married, not wanting the career, any songwriter would certainly want to have another very talented singer record this song which Ruth certainly is. Inevitably, I became a songwriter meeting my best friend and songwriting partner who was a multi instrumentalist he even played the mandolin. He knew how much I loved this song and he recorded it for me. One track at a time., yes it was more digital than back in the 50s. It didn’t have the warmth that analog has for all music recorded today because it’s digital but he did an amazing job and I was blown away by that as well that’s how much I loved Barbara and the songs that she recorded.
